چکیده

The dual reciprocity method (DRM) is a highly efficient numerical method of transforming domain integrals arising from the non-homogeneous term of the Poisson equation into equivalent boundary integrals. In this paper, the velocity and temperature fields of laminar forced heat convection in a concentric annular tube, with constant heat flux boundary conditions, have been studied using numerical simulations. The DRM has been used to solve the governing equation, which is expressed in the form of a Poisson equation. A test problem is employed to verify the DRM solutions with different boundary element discretizations and numbers of internal points. The results of the numerical simulations are discussed and compared with exact analytical solutions. Good agreement between the numerical results and exact solutions is evident, as the maximum relative errors are less than 5% to 6%, and the R2-values are greater than 0.999 in all cases. These results confirm the effectiveness and accuracy of the proposed numerical model, which is based on the DRM.

A NUMERICAL STUDY OF SINGLE-PHASE FORCED CONVECTIVE HEAT TRANSFER WITH FLOW FRICTION IN MICROCHANNELS (RESEARCH NOTE)

Three-dimensional simulations of the single-phase laminar flow and forced convective heat transfer of water in microchannels with small rectangular sections having specific hydraulic diameters and distinct geometric configurations were investigated numerically. The numerical results indicated that the laminar heat transfer was to be dependent upon the aspect ratio and the ratio of the hydraulic...

Forced Convection Heat Transfer of Giesekus Viscoelastic Fluid in Concentric Annulus with both Cylinders Rotation

A theoretical solution is presented for the forced convection heat transfer of a viscoelastic fluid obeying the Giesekus constitutive equation in a concentric annulus under steady state, laminar, and purely tangential flow. A relative rotational motion exists between the inner and the outer cylinders, which induces the flow. A constant temperature was set in both cylinders, in this study. The f...

Numerical Simulation of Forced Convection of Nanofluids by a Two-Component Nonhomogeneous Model

Nanofluids, in which nano-sized particles (typically less than 100 nm) are suspended in liquids, have emerged as a possible effective way of improving the heat transfer performance of common fluids. In this paper a numerical study is performed to analyze the wall shear stress and heat transfer coefficient of γAl2O3-water nanofluids under laminar forced convection through a circular pipe. It is ...
